Jacob Lozano
From El Paso, Texas, Jacob Lozano is a young advocate passionate about an array of social justice issues. As a former student trustee on the Canutillo ISD School Board and a current student advisor to the Texas State Board of Education, Jacob has championed student voices in policy-making at the local and state levels.
Jacob is especially interested in encouraging youth around him to engage with politics, a mission he has worked towards by organizing statewide phone banks, political speaker series, voter registration drives, and more as the Event Coordinator for the Latino Caucus of the High School Democrats of America and the founder of the El Paso High School Democrats. Jacob has also uplifted students within the criminal justice system as an Attorney and Juror for the El Paso Municipal Teen Court Program, trying over 40 Class–C misdemeanors and advocating for peer intervention as a successful method of restorative juvenile justice.
Jacob is using his capacity with SEAT as a Board Member and Community Engagement Fellow to advocate for immigrant rights on the Borderland, having organized a city–wide youth–led anti-ICE protest and currently coordinating a fundraiser for local immigrant advocacy organizations.
