Sumya Paruchuri
Sumya Paruchuri (they/them) is a youth advocate, movement leader, and student studying philosophy and public policy. After attending SEAT Advocacy Day in 2024, Sumya mobilized students in their hometown of The Woodlands, Texas, where they saw first hand the impact youth can have in policymaking and the decisions that affect them. This led to them joining other local and statewide efforts where they have fought against discriminatory school policies and curriculum, unjust book bans, and advocated for mental health support that meets the needs of students—all drawing from their own lived experiences. Sumya now proudly serves as the Development Director for SEAT where they are building coalitions, driving fundraising campaigns, and hosting community-based events to fund Texas' student movement for a seat at the table. When they’re not trying to better the world, Sumya can be found spending time with friends, listening to Noah Kahan, reading philosophy books, or binging their latest TV show.
