A Funeral for Texas Tech

Students are mourning the death of the Texas Tech University System and its spirit of academic freedom

After a prolonged death by a thousand cuts, the university and its spirit of academic freedom have passed away. Once sustained by open inquiry and courage, the university faded gradually amid policies and leadership decisions made by Chancellor Brandon “Big Brother” Creighton. These decisions constrained free expression and harmed vulnerable, innocent students.

Texas Tech is mourned by those who believe a university should be a place where all ideas, and all people, are encouraged to thrive. On Thursday, please join Students Engaged in Advancing Texas (SEAT) and Raiders Against Censorship for a memorial wake, eulogies, and a funeral procession during the Board of Regents meeting.

Send your condolences at studentsengaged.org/donate with $19.23 to pay homage to the year our beloved university was established.
