Dear SEAT Family,
Students Engaged in Advancing Texas (SEAT) began with a belief that still guides everything we do: students are the power. SEAT is, and has always been, a movement built by students for students. We organize because the people most impacted by education policy should be part of shaping it.
Over the past three years, SEAT has grown into a statewide, student-led movement. While being entirely youth-run, we’ve researched policy, organized our peers, testified before lawmakers, and shown up from classroom to capitol. We are fighting for our right to a voice in education, and in doing so, we are learning what it means to participate fully in shaping our realities. The future of our democracy depends on the civic leadership of young people today.
This year, 2025, was challenging on all fronts. Attacks on public education, censorship, and barriers to student participation made the work harder than ever. Still, students showed up and organized and spoke out anyway. On the frontlines where decisions are made, students proved that youth are not passive observers, but a force to be reckoned with.
We know there is a long road ahead. There is still so much to fight for, and we keep going because we share a belief in a better future for the people of this state: A future where students are heard, valued, and empowered to lead our democracy.
Finally, we want to say thank you. This work only exists because students, educators, families, and supporters choose to believe that young people deserve a real voice in education. Each of us make SEAT the movement it is.
With gratitude and determination,
The Students Engaged in Advancing Texas Team
